WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki
is a Japanese word signifying Universal Life Force Energy,
the energy that shapes all of life. When activated and
applied for purposes of healing, Reiki accelerates the
body's ability to heal physical ailments. Reiki opens
the mind and spirit to the underlying causes of disease
and pain, and promotes balanced wellness. At
Pure Reiki, the Usui System of Reiki Healing is taught
by Reiki
Master Daniel Pure, who is trained in the traditions
of Reiki formulated by Dr.
Mikao Usui and whose personal and professional life
is committed to this healing art. Those
who learn Reiki become Reiki practitioners. Being a
Reiki practitioner provides an individual with the means
of maintaining balance in their own health and that
of their families and friends. Reiki can also be incorporated
effectively into the healing arts practiced by health
professionals.
WHO DISCOVERED REIKI? WHERE DID IT START?
Reiki,
as a natural system of healing, was re-discovered by
Dr. Mikao Usui in the latter part of the 19th century.
Reiki was brought to the West by Mrs. Hawayo Takata,
Reiki Master par excellence. Today, the Usui System
of Reiki Healing is practiced throughout the world.
A more detailed "history" of Reiki is shared
by a Reiki Master in a Reiki Level I Class.
HOW DOES REIKI WORK?
The
universal life force energy passes through the Reiki
practitioner to the client as the practitioner places
his/her hands on the client. Reiki works on all levels
of the body, mind, spirit continuum. The healing energy
will go to wherever it is needed by the recipient.
WHAT WILL RECEIVING REIKI FROM A CERTIFIED REIKI PRACTITIONER DO FOR ME?
A
Reiki healing session creates a sense of peacefulness,
serenity and well-being. While Reiki may be used for a
variety of health conditions, it is not necessary to be
"sick" to receive Reiki. Many people are learning
the value of receiving Reiki for the sheer joy of it.
CAN REIKI BE USED IN A HEALTHCARE SETTING?
Reiki
is increasingly being used as an adjunct to allopathic
medicine in hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, and
hospice. When Reiki is combined with traditional medical
therapies, the healing benefits to the patient or client
are greatly enhanced. Many physicians, nurses, hospice
workers, nurse aides, and other healthcare professionals
have successfully integrated Reiki into their practices.
